To Whom it May Concern,
At the January 13, 2006 meeting of the Eight Streets Neighborhood Association,
Paul Curtis, owner of 13 Dwight Street came to the neighborhood support to
attain approval for adding an oriel to the back of his building overlooking
Berkeley Street Gardens that would increase his FAR.
Mr. Curtis presented diagrams
and photos showing what the proposed oriel made of wood construction would look
like and showing the dimensions of it jutting out approximately 3Õ6Ó x 8Õ5Ó.
While this area does technically increase the FAR by about eight square feet,
it is equal to less than 1% of the entire space. Mr Curtis showed that the
windows would be the same size as the existing windows and that the exterior
design is consistent with others in the neighborhood.
The Eight Streets
Neighborhood Association voted to not oppose the oriel being added and felt
that the design would greatly improve the exterior of the building. Mr. Curtis
also presented letters from abutters not opposing the construction.
Please feel free to contact
me with any questions or concerns on this subject.
Thank you.
Yours,
Heather Slaby
