This section brings you news about Eight Streets involvement in city-projects. The members of Eightstreets partake in many of different city projects. Although they attend meetings and are involved with issues on their own time, they do bring information back to the Eightstreets meeting to keep everyone up to date. Some of the city issues being pursued by ESNA memebers include Police-Community Meetings - An Eight Streets representative attends the Monthly Police-Community Open Meeting for out police district (D-4). Meetings are also open to the public, and take place on the last monday of each month, from 6:00-7:30 at the D-4 station (650 Harrison ave) South End Neighborhood Coalition (SENC) - Eight Streets is also represented on the SENC; which is an attempt at a south-end-wide NA. The SENC is about to undergo a re-organization, and Eight Streets will remain involved. Alliance of Boston Neighborhoods - The ABN is an umbrella organization for the entire city of Boston, concentrating on city-wide issues. See their web site for complete information. Eight Streets is a member of ABN, but is seeking a new representative to attend the meetings. ABN meets he Second Thursday of each month in a downtown/back bay location. Mail Delivery - An Eight Strees member is on the consumer postal committee to address mail and delivery problems in the South End. e-mail John McLachlan or speak up at an Eightstreets meeting if you have specific issues that need addressing. Complaints on mail delivery, send e-mail to the USPS Consumer Affairs Eight Streets members also take part in various other city wide meetings concerning Development, Transit, Safety, Flooding, Airport and Ground Water issues. |
